Every solar PV installation has to comply with NEC 2008 690.5 code for solar voltaic systems. Any of the PV solar systems has two types of electrical circuits, one who energize the system, DC based limited to 600V DC or 1000V DC , the second section from inverters to the main distribution or utility branching point which is AC based, usually 240V AC/ 60Hz , in some cases 120V AC / 60 Hz. Based on electrical fire hazard of such an installation grounding the installation respective checking the conformity against NEC 2008 code articles 690.5 (A) through (C ) and 690.35 it is the task of any commissioning engineer. Some other scenarios may require using professional series meters to identify ground fault and to monitor voltage and current values on the DC site or at the utility branching point or checking on the AC power quality transmitted back to grid. We offer Meggers, true RMS Meters and versatile DC Meters from Meggers, Fluke and Yokogawa to satisfy NEC 2008 code requirements.
